Austin & Marissa’s surprise Lincoln Memorial proposal was so endearing. Although at times the Lincoln can produce heavy traffic, it certainly offers epic views. I believe its central location of Washington DC’s most visited places has made it the ultimate choice for many.

Austin’s focus was the Washington Monument as his backdrop. Although cold, it turned out to be a great experience. The area wasn’t overly populated and was noted as one of their favorite places to visit on occasion. I arrived early to ensure I was in position for their arrival.

Pro Tip: When planning a Lincoln Memorial proposal be specific about the exact location, what you are wearing, and if others will be joining you. It is helpful to have a day of coordinator.

Once I spotted the couple approaching, I could see the nervousness on Austin’s face. The couple was holding hands and walking rather swiftly in my direction. As Austin reached a safe distance away he quickly dropped to one knee and confessed his love and popped the question!?! Marissa was surprised although slightly suspicious of Austin’s behavior. Of course “She said YES”!!!

After the hugs and kisses are exchanged, we moved into capturing a few engagement photos. To get my couples more comfortable I start off with genuine candids and prompts. This allows the couple to get comfortable being in front of the camera. This is an opportunity to observe my clients personalities, how they interact, and what poses they may or may not like.

Austin and Marissa is a fun and energetic couple and I had so much fun with them. Although this was our first time meeting, it felt like we had been longtime friends. My interactive posing and questioning allowed for the session to end stress free. I wish Austin & Marissa nothing but the best and hope their 2022 wedding is a dream come true!!!
